Seasonal British comedy sequel starring David Tennant, Pam Ferris and Jessica Hynes. Neurotic newly-qualified teacher Mr Peterson (Tennant) starts a new job at an under-achieving school and soon finds himself juggling his heavy workload with a wildly unconventional classroom assistant, a group of delinquent kids and his own very pregnant wife. The pressure mounts still further when he somehow becomes embroiled in a madcap plan to enter the National 'Song for Christmas' Competition and finds himself embarking on the craziest road trip of his life.
Kelly Macdonald and Rafe Spall star in this family adventure adapted from Arthur Ransome's classic novel set in the 1920s. While on holiday in the Lake District with their mother Mrs. Walker (Macdonald) four siblings - John (Dane Hughes), Susan (Orla Hill), Tatty (Teddie-Rose Malleson-Allen) and Roger (Bobby McCulloch) - set sail on a boat named Swallow and discover an island. As they begin to explore they realise the island has already been claimed by sisters Nancy (Seren Hawkes) and Peggy Blackett (Hannah Jayne Thorp), who have their own vessel called the Amazon. Meanwhile, the sisters' mysterious uncle Jim Turner (Spall), who lives in a houseboat and is thought of as a pirate by the Walker children, has become the target of secret agent Lazlow (Andrew Scott). When Jim is taken captive the Walkers and the Blacketts put aside their rivalry and band together on a mission to discover what happened to him. The cast also features Jessica Hynes, Richard Bremmer and Harry Enfield.
The complete four-part BBC drama in which the events of one night are re-told from the perspectives of different characters who are inevitably linked by the evening's outcome. To ensure a more secure future for himself, Ted (Douglas Hodge) attempts to impress his boss by holding a barbecue. When teenage rebel Rochelle (Georgina Campbell) litters the street outside his house, Ted makes sure she is punished but, in doing so, damages her chances at further education. Rochelle's mum, Carol (Jessica Hynes), is already struggling to cope with her life at home and at work when the police turn up looking for her son. Meanwhile, young Alfie (Billy Matthews) is about to turn 13 when he is faced with a difficult decision.
First two series of the BBC sitcom created by and starring Jessica Hynes. Inspired by the active women's suffrage movement in London, Margaret (Hynes) returns to her small town of Banbury in 1910 and, with the help of her local craft circle, founds the Banbury Intricate Craft Circle Politely Requests Women's Suffrage group. Hampering their initial success, however, is local activist Helen (Rebecca Front), who sets up her own anti-suffrage league and has an old rivalry with famous suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst (Sandi Toksvig).
Three lively retellings of Daniel Defoe's classic novels, plus two bonus programmes about his extraordinary life and far-reaching influence. Robinson Crusoe and his Farther Adventures An imaginative blend of the famous castaway tale and its lesser-known sequel, this thrilling drama sees Crusoe setting sail for the far north. Facing danger in the Siberian wastes, he keeps terror at bay by telling his companions campfire tales of his many adventures on his beloved island. Starring Tim McInnerney as Crusoe. Moll Flanders When Daniel Defoe meets Elizabeth Atkins in Newgate jail, she recounts her stranger-than-fiction story of a rags-to-riches life that took her from prostitution to prosperity - but culminated in destitution. Inspired, Defoe mixes fact and fiction to re-invent her as one of his most engaging characters: Moll Flanders. Starring Ben Miles as Defoe and Jessica Hynes as Elizabeth Atkins. A Journal of the Plague Year Writing a fictional journal of the Great Plague of 1665, Defoe soon comes to be haunted by the characters he is conjuring. Starring Ben Miles as Defoe. This exciting new collection of reinvented tales will also include two bonus programmes about Daniel Defoe himself: Defoe: Merchant, Writer, Convict, Spy by Philip Palmer - A biographical drama about Defoe's life, starring Ben Miles as Defoe and Niamh Cusack as his wife Mary. Defoe: The Facts and Fictions - A documentary by Mark Lawson, exploring the far-reaching influence of the pioneering author.
